Each year, local business leaders gather on Shop Street for one night to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in Galway. Since the first Sleep Out in 2012, the event has grown in impact and solidarity, raising almost €2 million to date.

What Your Sleep Out Support Makes Possible
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Galway’s business leaders taking part in the Sleep Out, together with the support of their networks and the wider business community, real and lasting impact has been achieved through several key projects:
Expanded Services – Teach Corrib Day Centre
With extended opening hours, Teach Corrib now serves four times more clients, averaging 50 people per day. Your support helps provide hot, nutritious meals for those sleeping rough or in cars - often their only source of comfort and a vital step toward improved health.
We’ve also extended our outreach hours, allowing our team to connect more people sleeping rough with essential services, including healthcare and housing support.
'Helping Kids First' Programme
For children experiencing long-term homelessness, we’ve developed educational and social supports like homework clubs and play-based activities.
Sleep Out funding helps us provide:
- A bright, welcoming playroom
- Access to summer camps and enrichment activities
- Opportunities for children to play, learn, and thrive - just like their peers
Client Welfare Support
Funds raised ensure clients can access critical health and mental health supports, such as:
- Counselling
- Physiotherapy
- Specialist medical services
Essential Facilities Upgrades
Your donations enable vital maintenance and renovations across our services, including:
- Kitchen and furniture upgrades

Our Homeless Services
COPE Galway provides a range of compassionate and practical services to support individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in Galway City and County.
COPE Galway is a local charity providing essential social services in Galway. We have been improving lives and strengthening communities for 60 years.
We respond to the needs of people experiencing homelessness, women and children subjected to domestic abuse, and we support older people towards healthy, independent ageing.
COPE Galway is deeply woven into the fabric of the Galway community. Our work is built on a foundation of community spirit and the belief that together, we can make a positive difference for people during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
