Our Story So Far
How the Business Leaders’ Sleep Out Began
The COPE Galway Business Leaders’ Sleep Out began in 2012, when local businesswoman, COPE Galway Board member and volunteer Hannah Kiely brought together five Galway business leaders in response to homelessness in the city. That first grassroots event raised approximately €7,000.
The idea was simple: bring together people with influence in Galway, ask them to use their networks to raise funds, and stand publicly in solidarity with people affected by homelessness.
How the Campaign Has Grown
Since 2012, the campaign has grown significantly, bringing more senior leaders and businesses from across Galway into the event each year.
Participants bring not only their own fundraising, but also their colleagues, clients, suppliers and professional networks.
Together, the campaign has raised close to €2 million for COPE Galway Homeless Service.
